Maria Rosaria Fasanelli
Educator
Maria Rosaria Fasanelli is a tenured EFL teacher at Liceo N. Machiavelli in Rome, Italy, where she has been teaching since 2008, holding several key institutional roles, including Foreign Languages Department Coordinator, Digital Animator, and Institutional Referent for Internationalization.
She holds an honors degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures and has completed postgraduate specialization courses in language education, English literature, and educational technology.
Since 2012, she has served as an eTwinning Ambassador and has coordinated numerous Erasmus+ and Comenius projects, integrating European and intercultural dimensions into the school curriculum. In 2022, she was appointed Erasmus+ School Ambassador.
In her role as UNESCO ASPnet focal point, she has promoted global citizenship education and sustainability, ensuring that both the European and global dimensions of learning are meaningfully embedded in teaching practices.
The eTwinning projects she has co-founded and implemented have received significant recognition: 17 National Quality Labels, 15 European Quality Labels, 3 National Certificates of Excellence, 2 National Prizes, and 2 Special Mentions. In 2017, she was among the winners of the Move2Learn, Learn2Move initiative launched by the European Commission to mark the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme.
In addition to her teaching and project leadership, Maria Rosaria Fasanelli is also an accomplished literary translator. She has translated 14 books for prominent Italian publishers and was awarded the “Città di Monselice” Literary Prize for scientific translation from English. She is also the author of two textbooks on comparative literature for upper secondary school students.
Since 2012, she has actively contributed to teacher training as a speaker, moderator, workshop leader, and webinar facilitator in over 40 national and international events organized by eTwinning, Erasmus+, USR Lazio, INDIRE, and other European institutions. Her work has focused on digital pedagogy, project-based learning, and global citizenship.
Thanks to her extensive involvement in international projects, she has visited and collaborated with numerous schools across Europe, fostering intercultural dialogue and strengthening educational networks. Her areas of expertise include international project design and management, educational innovation, digital learning environments, teacher education, and the promotion of inclusive and sustainable global citizenship in schools.
